This April we’re screening two recently acclaimed animated films that share a particular unspoken trait!

Robot Dreams might sound like a simple animated story about a dog and a robot. But like many of the best animated films, it’s really about something much deeper: friendship, loneliness, and the strange ways life separates people who once felt inseparable.

Set in 1980s New York, a lonely dog decides to build himself a robot companion. The two quickly become best friends, but a series of unfortunate circumstances forces them apart. The question that lingers through the rest of the film is simple: will they ever find each other again?

What makes this film remarkable is that it tells the entire story without dialogue. Everything is expressed through animation, music, and small moments of connection. It’s funny, nostalgic, and quietly heartbreaking.
