💡 Speaker:
David Peterson, Principal Solutions Engineer, Confluent
Bio:
David is a Principle Solutions Engineer with Confluent. He works across the APAC region in areas such as designing resilient Kappa Architectures, Payments, distributed system best practices and on the growing influence of Large Language Models and their role in creating knowledge-driven systems.
David lives on the Sunshine Coast in Australia and has four kids. In what little spare time he has he enjoys going to the beach, drawing, and losing at Mario Kart (nearly) every time with his kids.
Talk:
Developing with Generative AI and the Kappa Architecture
Abstract:
The Kappa architecture, built on top of Apache Kafka, simplifies the data pipeline by treating all data as a continuous stream. Applications built on the Kappa architecture can seamlessly process streams of data, analyse, and act upon that data in real-time. We will explore this along with the other key tenants and principles of the Kappa architecture, uncovering how it enables developers to build highly scalable, fault-tolerant, and low-latency applications that excel in handling rapidly changing data. In this meetup, we’ll discuss:
- How the Kappa Architecture is powering modern applications
- An overview of the current state of the art in AI
- Dig into code and build out a Generative AI application with Chat GPT and Streamlit
-----
💡 Speaker:
Shaun Stuart Senior Solutions Engineer, HashiCorp
Bio:
With more than a decade of experience working with large enterprises in ANZ and helping them improve efficiency, as well as reduce risks in their Cloud & DevOps journey. Shaun shared with DevOps and DevSecOps leaders in attendance the latest state of cloud survey results, what “zero trust” actually means in a multi-cloud world, and what’s required to make it truly successful as he presented - Scalable, Dynamic Security Across Clouds.
Talk:
Leveraging Terraform and Policy-as-Code for Automated Resource Provisioning in Confluent Cloud
Abstract:
In this session, you'll learn how to:
- Deploy and manage Confluent Cloud infrastructure, which is a cloud-native data streaming platform based on Kafka.
- Provision and configure Kafka clusters and topics on different cloud providers using Terraform providers and modules.
- Automate the workflow for creating and updating Kafka resources using Terraform state and plan.
Benefits of using Terraform and Kafka:
- Human-readable configuration files that can be versioned, reused, shared, and deployed in CI/CD pipelines.
- Consistent and safe provisioning and management of complex and dependent infrastructure across multiple cloud environments.
- High scalability, availability, and performance of data streaming applications using Kafka.
Solutions:
- Infrastructure-as-Code
- GitOps
- Policy-as-Code (highlighting Confluent policy as code repository)
