What we’re about
We are a community of technology leaders in the Auckland region who lead teams building and delivering technology solutions, products, and services. Our goal is to create a supportive space for leaders to learn, grow, and mentor the next generation of technology leaders. Our group consists of leaders with experience ranging from founders leading small teams through to those leading teams in large enterprises.
This group is designed for executives, directors, heads of departments, leads, and equivalent roles who lead or influence their teams and the direction of their organisations. Recognizing the strong overlap between product and technology leadership, we welcome leaders from both disciplines. To ensure meaningful and open discussions, membership is limited to those currently in leadership roles or on the path to stepping into one soon. We want members who have experience actively practicing in the field so that conversations remain relevant to the realities of technology leadership.
We host monthly events featuring experienced leaders who share their journeys, insights, and lessons learned. Our events typically include a speaker session followed by networking opportunities, allowing members to build valuable connections that support their growth. Occasionally, we may introduce alternative event formats to better serve our community’s needs.
We welcome leaders interested in speaking at our events and organizations looking to support technology leadership by hosting a gathering. To get involved, send us a message via Meetup or connect with our organizers on LinkedIn.

See all- Now what?Microsoft, Auckland
At some point in the past, presumably, you transitioned from an Individual Contributor (IC) role into a leadership role. Did you have enough training? Or indeed, any? Did you have the support you needed from the people around you, especially from the people you reported to?
This session paints a broad-strokes picture of what a transition from Senior IC to first-time leader looks like, covering topics like new skills that folks will need to learn, new roles they will need to play, and what you can do to help them succeed.
About our speaker: Ian Randall
Randall had 3 or 4 goes jumping between senior IC and TL before deciding that the leadership track was a better fit. He spent time in professional services roles at Gentrack and Datacom before landing a Product engineering role at (then) Spendvision, and never looked back. He spent 5 amazing years at Pushpay as it was breaking all the growth records, before taking senior leadership roles at Cin7, and First AML. He is currently VP Product and Engineering at Foster Moore delivering Registry solutions to clients around the world. He doesn't think people read right to the end of bios, he thinks talking about oneself in the third person is weird, but he does like it when people buy him a flat white.Food & Drinks
