# Online Beta Reading for Writers

Online Beta Reading for Writers is a small, practical feedback group for writers who want to find out how their work lands with real readers.
No pre-reading. No homework. No reading aloud.
Bring a short extract of up to 1,200 words to the Zoom session.
When it’s your turn, share the file with the group. Everyone reads it silently, then gives immediate reader feedback.
We focus on simple questions:

  • What worked?
  • Where did you lose or confuse us?
  • What stayed with us?
  • Would we keep reading?

Each writer gets time to hear the reader response and ask follow-up questions.
This is beta reading, not proofreading, line editing, or harsh critique. Writers don’t need to defend or explain their work — the goal is simply to understand what happened in the reader’s mind.
The group is open to novelists, memoirists, short-story writers, screenwriters, essayists, beginners and experienced writers.
Sessions are kept small, with a maximum of 4 writers, so everyone gets meaningful reading and feedback time.
Bring something you’re working on and see how it lands.
