Morning skate from Okahu Bay to Britomart's Saturday Market

If you are a confident skater, please feel free to join us for an early morning skate to Britomart's Saturday market.

About 30 minutes of skating from Akarana Eatery carpark to Britomart where you can get pastries and coffee etc. We should reach there around 8am and will head back by 9am.

Please arrive by 7.20am to allow time to put on your skates and safety gear. We will leave Akarana Car Park at 7.30am.

This event is for experienced skaters who:

• are confident to skate across roads and different surface types: bricks, tiles, jutter platforms, wooden planks, gravel, road crossings
• are able to skate a distance of 5-10km/1 hour return
• can stop suddenly and watch out for bikes, electric scooters, pedestrians and cars etc.

There are two Bridge crossings that require a reasonable level of fitness to skate up, and the ability to reduce speed skating down - some parts do not have support rails.

Best parking is in front of the big screen at 'The Landing' boat marina carpark next to Akarana Eatery - parking between the white lines is free.

Helmets are encouraged along with knee/elbow pads and wrist guards. Small backpack is good to bring also to carry water.
