What we’re about

Welcome to Auckland Trailblazers Nature Walks & Hikes - Jump in Feet First .

Our Walking Events are all about Exploring wild and beautiful landscapes, finding inspiration, learning back country skills, and refreshing the soul one foot step a time.

Here’s what we’re about:

Guided Hiking and Urban Walking adventures – we hike to enjoy the view, take photos, and breathe in the fresh air.

Learn something about the things we see along the way like trees and plants and listening to the sounds of nature..

Friendly, – most of us are here to connect, share stories, and make weekends more rewarding.

Accessible by all ..
– you don’t need to be super-fit.

Just bring enthusiasm, a decent pair of strong shoes, lunch, water..a day backpack and a sense of curiosity.

A few tips to get started:

Check out our event listings – each Trip includes what to bring, how to prepare, and where to meet.

We encourage carpooling – it’s cheaper, greener, and a great way to meet others. Add a Note below the Event in the Comments section with your Mobile number and Area where you live.

Don’t be shy! Say hello, ask questions, or let us know if you’re new – we’ve all been the “newbie” once.

Most importantly: relax. This group isn’t about racing or proving anything – it’s about enjoying exercise & friendship, we do together.

I’ve been leading outdoor groups for years, decades...actually .and what I know for sure is this: every Trip is better shared. I can’t wait to meet you on the tracks around Auckland and Waikato Regions.

🌞 Auckland Trailblazers – Wairongomai Valley & Butlers Incline Hike - Tramp - Trekking Day Trip away from Auckland in the Waikato Region.

Saturday 29 November 2025 – A Classic Kiwi Adventure Hike.

Kia ora team,

Summer’s finally shown up (about time!), and there’s no better way to celebrate than getting out into the bush with good company. This weekend we’re heading to one of the Waikato’s hidden gems — Wairongomai Valley, tucked just behind Te Aroha.

Think old-school gold-mining history, peaceful bush tracks, waterfalls to cool off under, and those big Kaimai views that remind you why Aotearoa is magic.

🌿 What to Expect

A classic Kiwi tramp… but Trailblazers style:

Steady, slower-paced walking

Plenty of stops for photos, breather breaks, and learning about the local history

A solid 8 km loop with some steeper bits (including the famous Butler’s Incline!)

Waterfalls to stand under — bring a towel if you’re brave

A long lunch break with stunning Waikato views

A post-walk treat: fresh strawberry or blueberry ice cream from a local orchard 🍓🍦
