Voice Computing: The Next Frontier

Details

A thought-provoking panel and discussion on voice computing, with guests from Google, Samsung, and betaworks. As conversational software like Siri, Amazon's Alexa, Google Assistant, and Samsung's Viv becomes increasingly accessible for mainstream consumers, the way we interact with computers is changing -- and that's just going to increase over time. Let's talk about it!

Panelists include:

Naomi Makofsky (https://twitter.com/naomak), Global Product Partnerships at Google. As a leader for partnerships for the Google Assistant, Naomi has a unique, inside look at the innovative, sometimes surprising experiences people are building for voice-controlled hardware.

Matt Hartman (https://twitter.com/MattHartman) is a Partner at betaworks, which has invested in audio-first startups such as in Anchor and Gimlet Media, as well as in products that have a strong presence on Amazon Alexa such as IFTTT (If This Then That). He is particularly interested these days in products working on different solutions and approaches to voice computing (more on that here (https://www.getrevue.co/profile/hearingvoices)).

Tim Casio (https://www.linkedin.com/in/tim-casio-8399082), M&A Director at Samsung Next. Tim led the team responsible for Samsung's acquisition of Viv, an AI assistant platform that enables developers to distribute their products through an intelligent, conversational interface; the latest shift in human-computer interaction.

Tim McElreath (https://twitter.com/timmcelreath), Senior Technical Architect at Scripps Networks Interactive. Tim leads development for Emerging Platforms (specifically voice and chat initiatives) for brands such as the Food Network. His team recently released their first Alexa skill as well as their first Facebook messenger bot, and plan to release their first Google Home integration soon.

Snacks and drinks will be provided :)

The Audio First event series is all about helping people keep up with the world of audio. Audio is everywhere -- in fact, with ubiquitous products like bluetooth headphones, the Amazon Echo and Google Home, audio is well on its way to becoming the way people interact with services, products, and each other. At Anchor (https://anchor.fm/), we spend a lot of time thinking about what this means for the products we're building, and we hope that Audio First can serve as a way to get other audio-oriented creators together to exchange ideas. For more on this event series or requirements for attending, read this (https://www.meetup.com/The-Future-of-Audio/messages/boards/thread/50245956#129750102).
