Shootin’ the Hootch in Helen AKA Tubing the Chatahootchie in Helen, GA

Join us as we travel to north Georgia, and leisurely tube down the Chatahootchie in Helen, GA. The cover photo for this event is the tubers as they pass the Helendorf patio which is right on the river. This is the hotel where I will be staying. This is a family friendly event. Pets and children are welcome. The Helendorf hotel has pet friendly rooms available.

At the Helendorf River Inn, you are just steps from all that Helen has to offer. That means, we're not far away from restaurants, shops, wine tasting and night life in almost any direction from the hotel. You can park your car and not move it again for your entire stay.

You will be responsible for your own transportation and booking a room. You may be able to carpool and share a room, but you will be responsible for finding someone to carpool with and finding a roommate. There are cheaper accommodations in Helen, you aren’t required to stay with the group. There are also campsites nearby, if camping is your thing. Anyone looking for a ride or roommate, feel free to post in the comments and we will try to get you paired up.

If you plan to go tubing, wear shoes that secure to your feet, the shore is littered with shoes that have floated away. I encourage you to purchase or rent a stick where you get your tube. You will need the stick to get unstuck and push off from crannies.

Bring an outside chair to enjoy sitting out on the patio of the hotel in the evening. There are chairs provided, but there weren’t many the last time I went ... best to be prepared. We can all gather there and hang out together listening to the sound of the river.
