Auntmama's June StoryTable
Details
The Aunties are back! After a long hiatus when the world turned upside down, Kathya
Alexander, Mary Anne Moorman, and Olubayo Johnson are reviving Auntmama’s StoryTable.
Need help with the down and outs? We have some uplift.
Want a little more joy? We got joy for the taking.
Does folk art enrich your life? We are all Folk.
For 15 years, on the last Thursday of the month, Auntmama’s StoryTable brought words,
songs, tears and laughter to the audience. We’re hosting this music story art on June 25 at
Common objects in Belltown.
There’s a parking lot across the street and a number of places to pick up food or beverages. It’s supper time, so eat if you like. We will ask the audience to tell us what time works best for future shows.
Tellers
Celebrating the pursuit of happiness and justice for all, award-winning playwright Kathya
Alexander brings stories from her 1960s Civil Rights heart to warm yours.
Kathya won best script accolades in 2025 at the prestigious Edinburgh Festival Fringe. She
begins work on the follow-up book to her novel ”Keep A Livin,” at the StoryTable.
Olubayo Johnson returns with new stories, her indomitable spirt, dead pan humor and
marvelous raconteur skills. Mary Anne Moorman (aka Auntmama) offers up some new old tales
for new faces and places.
All y’all who attend Seattle’s longest running story show, Fresh Ground Stories, know Paul
Currington. He’s stepping into the theme, Human Rights, as the evening’s spotlight teller. It’s
always a pleasure to hear the master producer tell his own stories.
Music
The house band returns! The Go Janes, with beautiful harmonies and original songs, are
Patrice O’Neil, Arnie Adler and Kathleen Tracy. The Go Janes are the perfect revival sound –
sweet and sassy.
It’s the month of Juneteenth, Pride and always the time for hope. Come, bring your heart,
meet a new generation, share insights, music and joy. Resistance requires art and a good time.
The 90-minute show starts at 6 PM at Common Objects, 2601 1st Ave. Seattle, WA 98121.
