## About the event
When you arrive, you’ll be invited to settle into a comfortable position—either lying down on a yoga mat or seated with support. The event will begin with a breath-work & guided meditation to help calm the mind and prepare the body for deep relaxation.
From there, the experience will gently transition into the soothing vibrations of crystal singing bowls, while our exclusive Reiki Master Gianna offers Reiki healing to each individual. The sound waves will create a nurturing environment that supports stress release, inner stillness, and energetic balance, enhancing the Reiki energy.
Many participants drift into a meditative or dreamlike state, while others enjoy the peaceful soundscape. Every session is unique—some people feel physical sensations, others see colours or imagery, and many leave feeling lighter, calmer, and more centred.

Micak Contemporary Art Gallery, 2 Orchard Heights Blvd. Unit #40, Aurora, ON, CA# Laura Wood’s Becoming
October 7- 26, 2025 @ Micak Contemporary Art Gallery
2 Orchard Heights Blvd. Unit #40. Aurora, ONReception & Artist Talk: Thurs. Oct. 16 | 6 PM- 8 PM
Free | All are welcomeBecoming is a new body of work by Ottawa-based painter Laura Wood. The exhibition explores the experiences of growth, anticipation, and transformation, reflecting the idea that we are always in a state of change. Inspired by the physical and emotional transformations connected to pregnancy, the paintings carry an uplifting and tender energy, filled with themes of renewal, possibility, and hope.
Paintings to be shown in the exhibition “Carry,” “Hold,” “Born with Wings,” “Made of Mist and Wish,” and “Flourish” capture moments of becoming, growth, and the beauty of new life. Wood’s process is intuitive and expressive—she lets paint and colour guide her, while pausing to add intentional marks that bring balance and refinement. Wood’s mix of spontaneity and thoughtfulness creates abstract compositions that feel both spontaneous and deeply considered.
Wood grew up in Aurora and discovered her passion for art early on, encouraged by her family to pursue her creative path, and she later earned her BFA from OCAD University. Becoming, she returns to her hometown with paintings that draw inspiration from the cycles and patterns of nature, using them as metaphors for human experience and transformation. www.micakgallery.com

Pastel Nagomi Art is a unique Japanese artform that uses soft
pastels and simple finger-blending techniques to create gentle, soothing, and heartwarming artwork. Through soft colors, blurred edges, and calming designs, Pastel Nagomi invites us to reconnect with ourselves and experience a deep sense of relaxation.A message from Alka Chopra, Instructor:

https://www.micakgallery.com/event-details/encaustic-painting-for-beginnersAbout the Instructor: Iraqi - Canadian artist Dania Al-Obaidi's encaustic works blend ancient techniques with dynamic, modern compositions. Trained in Fine Arts at Baghdad University and furthering her education in Canada, Al-Obaidi has exhibited extensively across Iraq, Canada, and the United States. Al-Obaidi's abstract encaustic paintings are deeply influenced by the interplay of memory and emotion. Describing the process of layering wax as like the way memories are built and preserved within the mind, each layer of colour adds depth and meaning.
Encaustic, or “hot wax” painting, is an ancient art form involving mixing heated beeswax with coloured pigments. The wax is then applied in layers onto a surface using tools such as brushes, palette knives, or often in Al-Obaidi's case, her hands. These visually striking compositions are rich with expressive colours and textures and tell vibrant stories with filled with symbolism and emotive imagery. Works you can feel.
