### Japanese Soft Pastel Painting Workshop

### Saturday October 25, 11 AM - 1 PM

#### Alka Chopra, Instructor

#### $65 per person | All ages

@Micak Contemporary Art Gallery located at 2 Orchard Heights Blvd Unit 40, Aurora, ON

In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the basics of Pastel
Nagomi through simple techniques such as shading, blending, and
layering. They will learn how to create soft gradients, delicate forms, and
serene patterns using just pastels, paper, and their fingertips. As we explore these techniques, they will create a few small artworks together—such as abstract expressions or a calming nature scene.

More than just an art class, this session is a mindful experience. The act of
blending colors with your hands allows you to slow down, quiet your inner
critic, and enjoy the process of creating without pressure or perfection. No
prior art experience is required—just bring an open mind and a willingness to explore.

By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with their own soothing pastel artwork and a sense of calm they can carry into daily life.

#### About Pastel Nagomi Art:

Pastel Nagomi Art is a unique Japanese artform that uses soft
pastels and simple finger-blending techniques to create gentle, soothing, and heartwarming artwork. The word Nagomi means “harmony and peace” in Japanese, and this style of art beautifully reflects that spirit. Through soft colors, blurred edges, and calming designs, Pastel Nagomi invites us to reconnect with ourselves and experience a deep sense of relaxation.
