Jatbula Trail Northern Territory

Jatbula Trail Northern Territory

Details

Join Norman and Lenka on one of the most amazing walks in Australia!

Jatbula Trail outside Katherine is incredibly difficult to book as limited to 15 walkers per day, sold out within 10 minutes of release! Its also one of the most amazing walks in Australia, water hole to river, to waterfall to water hole...Amazing campsites and rugged scenery.

I led this walk August 2018 and cannot recommend this walk highly enough, fairly easy walking and wonderful campsites.

The Jatbula Trail is a 62km one way walk, departing from Nitmiluk Gorge, traversing through the western edge of the Arnhem Land escarpment over sandstone plateau scrub, woodlands, monsoon forests and riverine landscapes finishing at Leilyn (Edith Falls) you will walk in the footsteps of generations of Jawoyn who traditionally travelled through parts of the trail. The trail is named after Jawoyn Traditional Owner Peter Jatbula who was instrumental in securing land rights for the Jawoyn people.

Yes August can be hot however easy walking with no hills, early start 8am walking beats the heat and nights are balmy so no heavy packs aim for 10kg maximum!
