Details
🐳Bondi Beach to Rose Bay via South Head – 18km
I would like to acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, the traditional custodians of this land and pay my respects to the Elders past, present and future.
🐳Meeting time & place: 9am meet at the circular Bondi Beach Lifeguard Tower on the middle edge of Bondi Beach.
🐳Route:
From iconic Bondi Beach we head north to the tip of the peninsula, South Head. Vast coastal views out to sea.
It's close to peak humpback whale northern migration time. End of June is peak. So the hope is we spot some magnificent cetaceans (whales) on their way north to breed in warmer waters. With luck it'll be blubber to blubber traffic.🙂
Then we double back to Watsons Bay for a break before heading on to beautiful Neilsen Park & Hermitage Foreshore Track with stunning views across harbour to the city.
We finish at Rose Bay Ferry Wharf around 2pm. There are regular ferries to Circular Quay or buses to CBD quite close.
🐳Distance: 18km
🐳Type of walk: This walk incorporates spectacular coast, harbour & city views using well established tracks & footpaths. There are steps and hilly sections. Total elevation 358m.
🐳Difficulty:
Easy/Moderate if you're not used to 18km distance. There are get-out/exit points the entire route.
🐳Walking pace: We will maintain a steady pace all day and average 4-4.5 km per hour.
🐳Transport from Hyde Park near Town Hall:
8.18am catch the 333 bus from Hyde Park, Elizabeth St, Stand A.
Arriving 8.49am Bondi Beach, Campbell Pde, Stand C, Bondi Beach Gives you 10 minutes to grab a quick coffee before we start.
🐳What to bring:
