Bikepacking Bundeena to Kiama 120km with support vehicle
Details
Bikepacking or cycling 2 days Bundeena to Kiama 120km with a support vehicle, no need to carry your camping gear, chuck it in the back of the support vehicle. Want to make a weekend of it, Yen and I will be camping at Bulli Beach Tourist Park both Fri/Sat nights.
Fabulous coastal cycle taking in roughly 60km each day over the weekend, camp at Thirroul or book a motel for Saturday night. Mostly cycle way or back roads, a few hills, but plenty of time to ride them.
Day 1: Leaving Bundeena where we take Bundeena Drive up to Lady Wakehurst Drive all the way to Bald Hill for the amazing views before taking the long ride down to Stanwell Park and the Seacliff Bridge then mostly cycle path or back roads all the way to Thirroul and our overnight stop, should be in by 3pm, time to explore the vilalge, have a shower, cold beer and relax.
Day 2: We head out after breakfast along cycle paths to Wollongong then picking up back roads ride through Windang, Shell Cove all the way to Kiama, should be in by 2pm for a train ride home, sit on the right for great views!
The ride from Bundeena to Kiama follows the coastline, providing an abundance of ocean views and sea breeze to fly through your hair.
Starting at the northern end of Royal National Park, follow Bundeena Drive, Bertram Stevens Drive, and Lady Wakehurst Drive to the southern end of the park. Jump on the winding coastal road/bike path that meanders between the ocean and toppling cliffs of the Illawarra Escarpment to fly down the coast to Wollongong. Stick to the bike path as it saunters along the sand and sea, past Windang, Shellharbour, and roll into the surf beaches of Kiama.
Two fees one for camping one for Motel (book and pay your own) Camping $140 (includes Fri and Sat night camping) BYO motel $100 includes leader fees and support vehicle.
