The Tomaree Coastal Walk is a new "Great Walk" along the coast from Shoal Bay to Birubi Beach. We will be doing the best part of this walk from Tomaree Lookout to One Mile Beach with the chance of making the side trip to Fingal Island. We will car-camp at Middle Rock Holiday Park on Friday and Saturday nights.

The plan is:
Friday 13 February-arrive at Middle Rock Holiday Park, suggested accommodation is to book an unpowered camping site for two nights. Sites cost $43 per night for 1-2 adults. There is a limit of one vehicle per site but additional vehicles can be left at the front of the holiday park or you can pay extra to bring in another vehicle but the sites are relatively small. Please see the link here to book Holiday & caravan park in Middle Rock - Ingenia Holidays If you prefer you can book a cabin instead of camping. We may go out for dinner on Friday night or you can cook your own camping dinner on the site.

Saturday 14 February, Shoal Bay to Middle Rock HP 16kms. To save car shuffling, parking fees and indecision about where to finish the walk if it's too hot we will get the 7.36AM bus from the bus stop across the road from Middle Rock and then alight at Shoal Bay for breakfast from the Zenith Cafe. Our walk then commences, firstly with a climb to the top of spectacular Tomaree Mountain. We then follow Shoal Bay Trail to Zenith Beach and have the option to also walk into Box and Wreck Beach. Afterwards we walk along Fingal Bay Beach with the chance to walk across the sand spit to Fingal Island and lighthouse. However if the spit is covered in water and too dangerous we continue to Fingal Bay surf club or shops for lunch. Continuing onwards we follow the rocky coast to Samurai Beach and One Mile Beach where we walk back to Middle Rock Holiday Park and our accommodation. We may then have a beverage and dinner at Anna Bay Tavern or the Thai restaurant.

On Sunday there is another meetup planned-this will be the boat cruise to Broughton Island. For those wishing to do this it is suggested that you leave Middle Rock at 8.30AM and drive to Fly Point Park where parking is available across the road from Wests Nelson Bay. It is then a 1km walk to d'Albora Marina Nelson Bay where the Moonshadow cruise to Broughton Island departs.

For this walk you will need all your car camping gear for Friday and Saturday night.

There is a $20 gratuity payable at the commencement of the meetup. Please pay via cash or PayID 0439543695.
