About the scheme: When a person has less than a 20% deposit they are required to pay lender mortgage insurance. Instead the Government will guarantee, through the First Home Buyers Deposit scheme, the next 15 per cent of the deposit. Effectively meaning you can borrow up to 95%. Conditions apply.
