What we’re about
This group is for anyone in Australia interested in spaceflight, space exploration and space history, including: commercial space development; space industry; aerospace engineering; space tourism; NASA; international space agencies; rocketry; Moon & Mars exploration and colonisation; aeronautics & astronautics; space science, etc.
The Network aims to be a national noticeboard for ‘all things space’ in Australia serving individual space enthusiasts, space industry professionals, aerospace students, academics & organisations and kindred space interest groups, wherever you are in Australia.
We specifically invite members and administrators of other groups to join up, list and promote your events here!
The Australian Space Network aims to list any and all space events in all Australian states and Territories. Naturally, the focus will be on capital cities but any space events happening in regional or rural locations are welcome to be listed also. If you want to know or share anything that may be happening related to space in Australia you'll be able visit and get the information and the links you need.
The Australian Space Network Meetup group is auspiced and sponsored by the Space Association of Australia Inc (SAA). The SAA is a non-profit, non-political interest group, passionate about spaceflight and space exploration. The SAA exists to: promote, inform and educate the Australian public on the virtues of the peaceful exploration, utilisation and, colonisation of outer space; encourage space research and the development of space applications and technologies; and provide regular forums for people to come together to share their knowledge and follow the latest space industry activities and developments from around the world.
The Space Association of Australia has members nationally but is based in Melbourne, Australia and has been active for over 35 years.
Come along to an Australian Space Network local meetup if you are keen to learn about and share your passion for all things space with like-minded space Networkers!
Please consider joining, meeting with real people and contributing to the Network!

Join us for an evening with Dr Marc Elmouttie, Research Group Leader at CSIRO Minerals, whose team has developed a cutting-edge multi-resolution scanning system being tested aboard the ISS.
This device fuses two CSIRO technologies: Stereo-Depth Fusion and Wildcat SLAM to create high-resolution 3D maps of spacecraft interiors. With cameras, time-of-flight sensors, and an IMU working together, it tracks robot motion, detects micrometeoroid damage, and enhances astronaut-robot interactions in real time.
From mining to Mars missions, Marc’s work shows how home-grown Australian tech is shaping the future of space exploration
