Drawing from our manuscript, art,photography,film & performing art holdings, this unique exhibition re-examines experiences of children as writers & readers & presents innovative works of early 20th century authors & illustrators who imagined fantasy worlds for young readers. Visitors will also view early 20th century magic lantern slides from Aesop’s Fables & Lewis Carroll’s Adventures in Wonderland; celluloid paintings from Walt Disney’s 1951 animated film adaptation of Alice in Wonderland- exhibition also highlights work of book illustrated by Arthur Rackhan who reimagined Edgar Allen Poe’s collection of suspenseful short stories,etc.( more on website)
