The Austin Arts Collective is a group of people that support the visual arts in Austin, Texas.
We include visual artists of any expression: jewelry makers, photographers, painters, welders, graphic artists, ceramicists, sculptors, glass blowers, weavers, print makers, seamstresses, etc.
You are equally welcome if you are an art buyer, enthusiast, publisher, historian, curator, etc.
Come meet with us to informally network and socialize. Pass some cards around. Get to know each other. We primarily post all art openings that we can find so that you have the opportunity to view art and meet the artists. We want people to Think Austin, Think Art.

Sarah Ferguson: Carte Blanche

"Wally Workman Gallery is pleased to announce Carte Blanche, a solo exhibition of new paintings by Sarah Ferguson, opening Saturday, October 10, 2026, and on view through November 1, 2026.
Entitled “Carte Blanche”, this show juxtaposes structure and surrender. Ferguson’s exploration of color leaves the viewer with feelings of expansion while discipline and ritual define her exploration of geometry. In this body of work, concentric forms converge towards a luminous center while circles orbit and expand around it. Ferguson feels this mirrors life itself, the known against the yet-to-be-discovered: the center holding steady beneath the grief and transition of outside forces continuously arriving, receding and returning to shape us.
Sarah Ferguson is an admirer of the Light and Space art movement, Minimalism, Hard-edge painting and Geometric abstraction. She lives and works in Austin, Texas. This exhibition is dedicated to Ferguson's late mother, Blanche."Reception October 10, 2026 | 6:00 - 8:00 pm

Elizabeth Hudson: Maze Tales

Mazes are depicted as difficult paths in popular imagination, but Maze Tales posits an alternative point of view: what if a maze represents a journey one decides to willingly embark upon? On another level, what if the maze is your right to opacity, as the writer Édouard Glissant talks about in Philosophie de la Relation (Philosophy of Relation)? What kind of wonder and surprise can you stumble upon when you find yourself lost with no directions other than your internal guide?
Elizabeth Hudson explores this alternative world of mazes and labyrinths through the lens of Black folklore, incorporating the natural world with both the imagined and the constructed worlds of staircases, pathways, and playgrounds. Using watercolor as her primary medium, she invites viewers to step into a world of dreams, of poetry, and paradoxically, of opacity.
About the Artist:
Elizabeth Maria Hudson (b. Los Angeles, 1989) is a watercolor figurative painter from Dallas, Texas. She studied painting and drawing at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and has a BA in history and art history from the University of Texas at Austin. She has exhibited at Pencil on Paper Gallery, George Washington Carver Museum, Big Medium, and Martha’s. Her work is in the current issue of New American Paintings: Issue 180 West. Presently, work centers on translating the nuances of black American folklore into a visual language that focuses on womanist themes like agency, liberation, and community care. She currently lives and works between Dallas, Texas and Austin, Texas."Reception October 11, 2026 | 1:00 - 4:00 pm
