Michael Snodgrass: An Exhibition of New Work

"I describe my work as abstract primitive with a dose of humor and often a subtle poke at the foibles of modern society. I try to accomplish this by rendering my figures in a crude and emotional way, utilizing scratches, splashes, drips and vivid color. I work exclusively on panel since my painting technique involves attacking the surface of the painting vigorously with an assortment of unconventional tools, such as sticks, screwdrivers, plastering trowels, torches, bare hand and occasionally, brushes. So far, I haven’t felt the need to use the shotgun, but who knows?"
