What we’re about
Austin Astronomy Meetup connects people interested in astronomy, astrophotography, stargazing and general interest of the night sky. I have been looking around for an Astronomy meetup and did not find one in Austin, so I decided to start this one. The purpose of this meetup is to help you begin or rekindle your connection with the night sky while having fun and meeting others with similar interests. Looking for members in and around Austin. No experience in astronomy is required and you don't need to own a telescope to participate. If you already own a telescope and looking to find other people to go out and observe the sky, you have come to the right place. Clear skies and happy viewing.

Come join us. Sell some of your old gear. Buy some thing you’ve been thinking about for a good price.
Area512 is the name we’ve given to our newly acquired telescope storage and maintenance facility where we intend to hold Scope Clinics to assist our members who may have mechanical or operational issues with their astronomy equipment. Area512 will also house our astronomy lending library and will be the focal point for our loaner scope program. We also plan to offer training/educational sessions and provide a place to meet mentors if you are just starting out in the hobby.
Help will be available for anyone with telescope equipment that needs repair, adjusting or simply training. We will also begin the construction of a base for one of the clubs dobsonian telescopes for anyone interested in building their own telescope.
Looking forward to seeing y’all there.

The Radio Astronomy SIG is just getting off the ground and we're looking to connect with anyone interested in non-visual astronomy. For example using software defined radios or non-visual optical astronomy such as spectrophotometry.
