This month we'll be doing a joint meetup with the Austin Scala Enthusiasts meetup ( https://www.meetup.com/Austin-Scala-Enthusiasts/ ). We'll be hearing from Cody Koeninger on Spark basics and how they apply to Cassandra.

About the Talk:

The goal is to give you a good basis for understanding Spark

( http://spark.apache.org/ ) and how it might help with your Cassandra
usage. Topics we'll touch on

• Basic concepts of Spark that tend to trip up new users
• RDD vs DataFrames/DataSets and why it matters
• Intro to the Spark Cassandra connector API
