overview
Learning new concepts/skills should be uncomfortable.

English is "legato" with dynamics/stresses.
Chinese is a "staccato" melody, so "lighten up" and "tighten up".
"Wèi de mǐ ne?" vs. "Wait a minute!"

Běijīng: It really is "jing", not "zhing".
Zhōngguó: more like "joong-gwo", -not- "zhoong-gwaw", -not- "choong-gwaw".
Does your "wo" sound like "whoa"?! 😂

"melody"
What do we mean by tones? (melody/pitch)
I'll call the four basic patterns "high", "up", "low", "down".

What is meant by "neutral tone"? (melodic examples)

What are "tone pairs"? (listening drill)
Actually, you don't even need to name the patterns, just be able to hear and say them.
