World Cup - Austria vs Spain

Austria and Spain will meet in a round of 32 knockout stage game of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Kick-off will be at 2:00pm.

Austria's group stage performance encompassed a somewhat shaky 3:1 win over World Cup debutant Jordan, a 0:2 loss to Messi, err, Argentina, and a mind-boggling, last-breath 3:3 draw with Algeria, the upshot of which was a 2nd place group finish and the resulting honor of playing another favorite to win the whole shebang - highly-regarded Spain.

The Tavern is an old central Austin institution located at the northeast corner of N Lamar Blvd and 12th St with ample parking in a lot to the south across 12th St.

Our group caught the Argentina match there last week and a handful of Austrian faithful gathered there Saturday for the Algeria match as well.

Seeing as how this match features a fan favorite, we may not manage to set up in front of one of the large TVs. I'll make a note of where we're gathering in the meeting conversation/chat and will look to set up a couple of German Language Meetup tabletop signs to help newcomers locate the group.
