Lake Georgetown - Full 26-mile Loop Backpacking Trip
This backpacking trip will be a full 26-mile loop around Lake Georgetown!
We will meet at 8am on Saturday, September 27th, at the Cedar Breaks trailhead at Lake Georgetown. On Day 1, we'll hike counterclockwise, approximately 15 miles, and camp at Tejas Camp (I have reserved the group site for September 27-28.). We finish the loop on Day 2 by hiking 11 more miles to Cedar Breaks trailhead.
Note, if you plan to park and leave a car at Cedar Breaks trailhead, you will need to buy daily use passes for September 27th and 28th: https://www.recreation.gov/activitypass/d589d86b-7acd-11eb-aa53-7a66f0569cfb/order .
Everyone starts on the Waitlist for this event. To participate in this event, I'll need to have hiked with you before or vetted your backpacking experience.

Gilleland Creek Trail - Pflugerville Deutschen Pfest
Hi All,
I wanted to get this "hike" posted early so people can start penciling this fantastic event on their calendars.
The initial planned hike will be a 5-mile hike of the Gilleland Creek Trail in Pflugerville, TX. The Gilleland Creek Trail runs through Pfluger Park and Pfenning Park, where events will be happening for the Deutschen Pfest festival. Deutschen Pfest is a really fun festival with lots of live music, food, and community activities. Tickets for Deutschen Pfest are only $15.00. The initial plan is to meet at 9am on Saturday, October 18th, 2025, at the Gilleland Creek Pool and Parking lot. Parking could be very challenging around this area on the day of the festival. In years past, there were shuttles at other parking locations, but the shuttles may not drop off at Gilleland Creek Pool. More details to come on parking as we get closer to the actual day of this event.
We'll hike about 2.5 miles on the Trail, turn around and then on the return hike, enter the festival, which is scheduled to open at 10am. Last year, the live music started at 11am and went all day until 10pm. Last year's schedule can still be seen here: https://deutschenpfest.com/schedule/
