Queer River Day

Join us and all your queer besties for a river day in San Marcos!

All open-hearted, open-minded humans are welcome to this event! Since this is a sapphic group, we especially welcome queer women+, nonbinary folks, and trans friends. Pets are allowed in the park and pool.

We will meet on the banks of the San Marcos River in Rio Vista park, and we will attempt to secure a picnic table for our group. Please note that it’s first come, first serve, so depending on how busy the park is that day, we might just have a blanket spread.

How to Find Us

• The parking lot off of SCM Allen Parkway (next to the railroad tracks) can get pretty full so we recommend carpooling and getting there as early as possible.
• Enter the park from SCM Allen Parkway and walk past the swimming pool.
• There will be several picnic tables under the trees. We’ll attempt to claim one close to the river and we will share pictures of our location day of (on our Instagram stories and Discord group.)

What to Bring

• Camp chair or blanket to sit on
• Snacks and drinks! (We will have a camp stove to cook veggie burgers, but please bring any other goodies you’d like.)
• Re-usable bottle
• Swimsuit
• Water shoes
• Tube (or floatie). We recommend a full river tube so you can float down the river and shoot the chute.
• Sunscreen
• Towel

The park does not allow single use containers within 50 feet of the river so make sure you bring your re-usable bottles if you want to have a drink in your float.

Alcohol is not allowed on the river, so this will be an alcohol-free event.

We organize caroooling through our Discord group, so please message Courtney or Brax (organizers) or DM @ATXsapphichikingcrew on Instagram if you’d like to join the Discord group. It's also a good idea to join the group in case you're running late or need help finding us on the day of.
