Hunger: A Memoir of (My) Body by Roxane Gay
is a powerful memoir exploring her relationship with food, body image, and trauma, particularly following a childhood sexual assault that led to weight gain as a coping mechanism for protection and comfort. The book candidly discusses the psychological and emotional struggles of living in a large body in a culture obsessed with appearance, examining themes of self-care, desire, and the journey toward self-acceptance, rather than a simple weight-loss narrative.
Please have finished the book and arrive with a note or two for discussion.
