Litdevs Hackathon #1: NFC (Kickoff)
Details
Near-field communication is present in every modern cell phone, with API access available to developers. It allows for communications over 4 cm of distance, handily bridging the gap between the computational and immediate physical worlds. It's ideal for use cases such as tap to pay, access control, proof-of-location, and “handshakes” (e.g. relaying contact information). It makes a good substitution for a QR code, with no visual footprint required.
To our eye, the Bitcoin / Lightning community has just begun to contend with this technology. So let us come together to contend with, develop expertise in, and integrate this technology into an application or a prototype.
Prizes:
* the Breez / SATSCARD NFC Bounty (we will have Coinkite test cards and programming support from Breez)
* A ticket to Base58's March transaction class, sponsored by Base58
* A ticket to Bitcoin++, sponsored by Breez
Note: This hackathon is open to other protocols, such as Nostr, and to local / centralized techniques, but we do not abide shitcoinery.
