Come join Austin Jazz Society as the celebrate the birthday of one of the greatest composers and pianist in Jazz history. Thelonious Monk made his mark on Jazz from the founding of bebop into the 1960s and 70s. Six of Austin's finest Jazz pianists and a guitarist will each play 2 of Monk's compositions and join together for a grand finale. Join us for the 3rd Annual MONK-A-THON, in collaboration with the Austin Jazz Society, featuring six pianists & one guitarist performing works from the large catalogue of compositions by the great Thelonious Monk. Note: October 10th is Monk’s birthday, so be prepared for a party!
