Come learn some rope skills. This meetup is geared towards people attending either the colorado mountain school trip or upcoming Rainier climb, but is open to all. If you don't know if technical mountaineering is for you, this is a great opportunity to get a taste.

Note: Event time is approximate. The event will begin after the end of the River Place hike. The location of this meetup is the "monkey bars" park just up the hill from the Canyon Trail trailhead where the hike begins and ends. We will miss out on Rudy's, so maybe bring some food.

We will practice the following skills:
* Tying in as a member of a rope team (including relevant knots)
* Movement, teamwork, and slack management
* Navigating obstacles (eg. crevasses) while roped up
* Rigging and using a prusik knot
* Passing fixed protection (running belay)

We will use the following gear per person. If you have it, bring it. Otherwise, we will share (people with a lot of gear, bring your extras):
* Climbing harness (any style, but a standard vertical belay loop is ideal)
* 2 locking carabiners
* Short prusik loop (tied cord, sterling hollowblock, beal jammy, etc)
