This group started in 2008 with the goal of helping others learn about portrait photography while inspiring them on their photographic journey. Today, we've held hundreds of portrait photography workshops helping thousands of people at all skill levels.
This group is for photographers of all skill levels who like to photograph people. Our meetups are on a variety of topics including portraiture, editorial and themed. Some of these meetups are educational while others focus mainly on shooting - all are a lot of fun! If you're a beginner looking to learn or an experienced photographer looking for new opportunities to photograph people, this is the group for you!
Every event you attend will be well-organized with friendly people and you'll never find yourself "lost and alone" - I'm always there to help you learn and get your best images. You'll get to work with the latest professional equipment as well as professional models and stylists. I look forward to seeing you at one of our many events!

Back by popular demand - the posing workshop!
We talk so much about f-stops, apertures, lighting and so many other technical details yet there is a common scenario at many of our shoot events. A model comes on set and asks the photographer, "So, what do you want me to do?" This situation can be even worse when the subject isn't a model and the subject assumes the photographer will know the best poses for them. Many times the photographer breaks into a cold sweat and bears the gaze of a deer caught in headlights not knowing how to respond.
It doesn't have to be this way. In this three-hour workshop, I'll demystify the fundamentals of posing. Not only will I demonstrate specific poses, but I'll also break down fundamental concepts of posing so you can create your own poses with anyone. We'll cover a number of topics including the following:
- Following the light - knowing how to pose relative to your lighting
- Composition - understanding how to pose to create dynamic energy in an image
- The three planes - use them to your advantage to create new and interesting poses - Poses that work for everyone
- Formal, informal, casual, glamorous and playful poses
- Standing, seated and floor posing - Shooting position for various poses
- Tips, tricks, traps and do's & don'ts - there are some things you just don't want to shoot!
This will be highly interactive and you'll be shooting so bring your camera so you can try some of these techniques!
We will have a professional model present so you'll be able to practice what you learn.

Flash photography is popular but it's not necessary for everyone. LED constant lights have evolved and can be used to make beautiful portraits.
In this two-hour workshop, we'll use LED lights to make compelling portraits. We'll cover a number of topics including the following:
- - Understanding constant LED lights.
- Modifiers for constant LED lights (softboxes, umbrellas).
- Light placement to get the best results.
- Classic portrait shadow patterns – how to choose and create them.
- How to actively manage shadows.
- Posing basics – how to pose anyone to make them look their best
This will be highly interactive and you'll be shooting so bring your camera so you can try some of these techniques!
