Sierra Club Program ONLINE: Nature Based Low Carbon Solutions
Details
Our monthly Austin Sierra Club meeting will be online via Zoom.
We'll start off with Announcements on current events... Tonite's main program is Nature Based Low Carbon Solutions, with Robin Rather.
Using nature to sequester more carbon is one of the most cost effective ways to reduce carbon pollution. Paying farmers and ranchers to adopt needed regenerative practices for the value of the carbon they sequester is a simple, efficient way for this to happen. However, many issues make reliable carbon credits difficult. Robin Rather co-founded a non-profit, BCarbon, which uses cutting-edge science and processes to carefully measure carbon sequestered and provide carbon credits to pay for them. Come hear her explain how and why to use nature based low carbon solutions.
Environmental activist and sustainability advocate Robin Rather specializes in socioeconomic research and strategy for a range of business, non-profit and governmental clients at her Austin company, Collective Strength, where she is the CEO. She has served as lead consultant on projects involving renewable energy strategies, water conservation, the future of healthcare, non-point source pollution, community values, citizens’ definitions of a healthy economy, and corporate trends.
Robin has a B.A. cum laude in Sociology from Tufts University. A former board chair of the Save Our Springs Alliance (SOSA), and co-founder of Liveable City, Hill Country Conservancy and Envision Central Texas, she was born in Houston. Robin lives in Austin and has one son.
