Sierra Club General Meeting -- Solar Energy: Cheaper, Cleaner, Better

Details
Join us at our monthly General Meeting for socializing, networking, and engagement on environmental topics of local interest. Arrive as early as 6pm at El Mercado (1302 S 1st St) to purchase food and drink. Club updates and program starts promptly at 7pm.
Note the date, September 17. This month only, we are meeting on the third Wednesday rather than the second due to a venue conflict.
Our September program features Micalah Spenrath of HARC . She will highlight the benefits of solar energy compared to other power sources, the barriers to wider adoption in Texas, and the critical role of battery storage in strengthening grid resilience. She will also touch on the influence of public policy on the growth of solar energy and how the audience can get involved.
Micalah Spenrath is the Deputy Director of Policy & Energy at HARC, a sustainability nonprofit, where she works to inform public policies and support projects that expand clean energy access and adoption. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Powerhouse Texas, a nonprofit dedicated to cultivating policy leaders who will promote energy innovation, security, and sustainability.
Her previous experience includes directing state environmental programs at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and managing federal resilience projects under FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. Micalah has also served on Austin Energy’s Electric Utility Commission Working Group, helping shape the city’s Austin Energy Resource, Generation and Climate Protection Plan.
With a Master’s in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University, a PMP® Certification, and deep experience bridging science and policy, Micalah works to make Texas’ energy systems smarter, cleaner, and more resilient.
Can't make this event but still keenly interested in the topic? No worries... look for a recording of the presentation posted to the Austin Group's YouTube channel within about one week.
