Earth Day Lady Bird Lake dinner walk
Details
Join us for a 4.5-mile easy-paced walk on the hard-packed dirt trail around Lady Bird Lake. We'll stop for a relaxed, healthy dinner at the 3-mile mark at Casa de Luz , known for its welcoming atmosphere and whole plant nutrition. Bring cash / card (approx $15). Those not wanting to stop will need to complete the remaining 1.5 miles on their own. No pets please.
"The Rock" starting point is the nickname for the trailhead area of Lady Bird Lake where Veterans Dr passes under Mopac. It is at the north end of the Roberta Crenshaw bridge. You may navigate to "2104 Stephen F Austin Dr · Austin, TX". There may be free parking in a dirt lot under the Mopac overpass; otherwise there is paid parking along Veterans Dr - download the Park ATX app to pay (approx $4). If coming from south Austin, it is more convenient to park at the south end of the Roberta Crenshaw bridge, which is currently free - check signs. Also consider taking CapMetro.
Participants must sign a Liability Waiver at the trailhead. You may view the waiver document: https://tinyurl.com/SCSignUpSheet2020 .
If not already a member, we encourage you to join the Sierra Club (the national club, not just the Meetup group) and help protect the environment and our democracy.
WEATHER NOTE: The hike may be cancelled due to rain or anticipated bad weather. A decision would be made on this page 1 hour before start time.
