Systems and Futures: Mindset, Methods, and Making

Details
'Systems' and 'Futures' are interrelated and inextricable.
Kalyani Tupkary, Sophia Kecir Camper, and J. Paul Neely will be joining us to share work they're actively engaged in at the confluence of Systems and Futures. For the purposes of our event 'Systems' encompasses Systems Thinking, Systemic Design, and Systems-oriented Design. 'Futures' encompasses Futures Literacy, Design-Futures, Strategic Foresight, and Futures Studies. We will explore and discuss Systems and Futures as a mindset, an approach to how you inhabit the world, and how you design products, services, systemic interventions, and alternative futures scenarios that will or can manifest in the worlds you inhabit.

👥 About our Panelists 👥
Kalyani Tupkary: Kalyani is a designer exploring alternate futures or rather realities. She makes tools for dreaming up new ways of seeing the world. In doing so, her work proposes poetic uses of technology.
Sophia Kecir Camper: Sophia Kc.’s work is focused on raising awareness and sharpening one’s critical thinking about the World we live in, especially through the food we put in our mouths. Which part of our food culture beliefs have been entirely made up, invented, manipulated, distorted? When and how has the food chain become obscure and disconnected from our reality? Why such a fundamental need is still no accessible to everyone? To answer some of these questions, Sophia will present her latest project exploring these questions.
J. Paul Neely: J. Paul Neeley is a Designer and Researcher based in London. He has a background in Service Design, Speculative Design, Design Research, and Strategy. J. Paul has worked professionally at Mayo Clinic’s Center for Innovation as Service Designer & Researcher focusing on the healthcare experience and delivery, at Teton Radiology as Service Design Manager realizing innovative medical imaging solutions, and at Unilever in Consumer & Market Insights on brand development.
