Building a Real-World Product with Twitter Data - The Twitter API is powerful, but with that power comes complexity. Unfortunately, most Twitter API examples don't go much beyond "hello world". We'll discuss how to weave together data from public and enterprise APIs into a real-world application. We'll go beyond the basics to focus on key problems like merging data from REST and streaming endpoints, managing rate limits at scale and handling large volumes of Twitter data.
Jerry has over a decade of technical leadership and experience in operations of large, highly-available infrastructure in the analytics and gaming industries. He currently leads Union Metrics' Engineering team while also serving as Chief GIF Architect.

Introducing Probot - Probot is an open-source twitter chat bot that responds to commands submitted via twitter direct message with brief answer and links to more comprehensive answers. Basic commands specify the domain: for example, /friends /followers /mentions /hashtags /domains as well as arguments such as sorting criteria. Steve will demo Probot, walk-through the code base, explain what someone would need to do to run it behind their own account, and lead a discussion regarding new feature roadmap.
Steve Blackmon is VP of Technology at People Pattern and VP of Apache Streams at the Apache Software Foundation.
