Securing Embedded Processors for the IoT

Details

We’ll start with our normal open networking meet & greet from 7:00p-7:15p. Then after that, Dan Ganousis from Dover Microsystems will be giving an awesome presentation entitled "Securing Embedded Processors for the IoT".

Cynics have already started claiming that the IoT is overhyped and will never live up to analyst's expectations. This presentation will discuss the chief reason IoT development and deployment has not grown as expected ... and that reason is simple ... lack of security.

An overview of the types of IoT attacks that are being seen today and their consequences will be presented. This presentation then explains what it takes to secure hardware used in the IoT (what it really means to secure "things"), what security design and verification technology
from EDA and IP vendors is available today for hardware designers, and an introduction into a new hardware security solution that guarantees protection against all network-based cyber attacks.

Dan is currently the Director of Sales at Dover Microsystems. He began his 40+ year career in the semiconductor industry working on the design, test, and manufacturing of the Z80, 65C02, MicroVAX, and Solbourne microprocessors. He moved into sales and marketing in the EDA industry where he held executive positions at Mentor Graphics, Viewlogic, and
VeriBest before assuming the CEO position at startups AccelChip and Arithmatica.

Most recently Dan was a business development consultant for embedded IoT processor IP vendors Codasip, Cortus, and Andes. Dan holds a BSEE degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Austin IoT is a sharing group and we’re always looking for speakers. If you would like to present at one of our future meetups, please contact us here or speak to us at one of our meetups.

See you there, and as always, be sure to BRING A FRIEND!!!
