UPDATE: The South by Southwest festival, an iconic Austin event that annually attracts more than 100,000 music fans, technology buffs and pop culture enthusiasts to the city’s downtown each March, has been called off this year amid growing global fears about a possible coronavirus pandemic.

Hello Everyone!

Each year the Austin Game Developers Association (a chapter of the International Game Developers Association) operates a booth at the SXSW Gaming Expo. At that booth, we invite Central Texas game studios to bring their best games, designs, art or concepts and show them off to SXSW Gaming Expo attendees. We also need volunteers (generally one or two at a time) to manage the booth, making sure the demo teams get setup, have the materials they need and come/go on schedule! We do two demos at at time (booth is a 10x20 so plenty of room) and each demo lasts about two hours (slightly less for setup and pack out).

What is the SXSW Gaming Expo? SXSW Gaming brings together the gaming industry into one chaotically fun experience that only the legendary SXSW can provide. It’s a unique combination of all things geek, nerd, and gaming that takes place in an environment where creativity thrives.

Here are the dates and times:

March 19, 2019. 11 AM - 6 PM

March 20, 2019. 11 AM - 6 PM

March 21, 2019. 11 AM - 5 PM

We especially need volunteers for the load in on either: Tuesday, March 17, 2020 | 10:00am – 6:00pm, or
Wednesday, March 18, 2020 | 9:00am – 6:00pm. Specific date / time TBD.

We'll also need help carrying stuff out at the end of the show on the 21st.

While details are still being worked out, teams that demo or people that volunteer will receive access to the Gaming Expo... more details to come!
