Talk1: Amirreza Salamat - Using Apache Airflow for task scheduling

Description: Apache Airflow is a powerful tool for automating task scheduling in data processing and Machine Learning pipelines. With Airflow, developers can define workflows as code, making it easy to manage and maintain complex workflows that may involve multiple dependencies and conditions. Airflow's rich library of operators and providers makes it easy to integrate with a wide variety of services, from cloud providers like AWS and Google Cloud Platform to databases, APIs, and more.
In this presentation, we’ll have a hands-on introduction to Apache Airflow and use it to build a simple pipeline. Additionally, we’ll get familiar with the Airflow UI and how we can utilize it to better monitor our jobs.

Bio: Amirreza is a senior AI Enablement engineer at CCC Intelligent Solutions, his focus is to find and develop tools and automation that make Data Scientists and ML Engineers faster and more efficient. He’s usually the bridge between these engineers and the infrastructure support team.
He is currently maintaining an Internal Developer Platform that hosts the services used by the team. This platform includes internally-developed services and cloud computing components all customized based on the team’s requirements.
He also contributed to tools that help with scheduling jobs, managing cloud and on-prem resources, and performing distributed training on multiple machines. He also develops websites that showcase the team’s Machine Learning models and projects in a modern and interactive way to the customers.

Talk 2: Sophia Yang - AI explainability

Description: There has been an increasing interest in AI and ML interpretability and explainability. Researchers have designed many explanation techniques such as SHAP, LIME, explainable boosting machine, visual analytics, distillation, prototypes, saliency map, counterfactual, feature visualization, interpretML, and TCAV. In this talk, we will provide a high-level overview of the popular model explanation techniques.

Bio: Sophia Yang is a Senior Data Scientist and a Developer Advocate at Anaconda. She is passionate about the data science community and the Python open-source community. She is the author of multiple Python open-source libraries such as condastats, cranlogs, PyPowerUp, intake-stripe, and intake-salesforce. She serves on the Steering Committee and the Code of Conduct Committee of the Python open-source visualization system HoloViz. She also volunteers at NumFOCUS, PyData, and SciPy conferences. She holds an M.S. in Computer Science, an M.S. in Statistics, and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin.
