We typically have a main presentation or a series of lightning talks, followed by discussion and Q&A. There is a diversity of domains and experience levels represented, so come with your questions and be prepared to talk about how you use Python!

Talk 1: James Powell : "What’s New in Python 3.9."
James will highlight new features and core language changes for the upcoming Python 3.9 release. This session will consist of a live coding demonstration of the most relevant and most exciting new features in Python 3.9.
James Powell is a professional Python programmer and enthusiast. He has experience with using cutting-edge open source tools like Python and React in finance, optical, and backbone engineering. He currently serves as a Vice President at NumFOCUS, James is a prolific speaker: since 2013, he has given over seventy conference talks at over fifty Python events worldwide.
Talk 2: Katrina Riehl : "The state of NumFOCUS"
Katrina will talk about some of NumFOCUS new affiliated and sponsored projects, and how some PyData projects are being used in the fight against COVID.
Katrina Riehl is the Head of Data Science at Cloudflare. As a 20-year Pythonista, she has worked extensively in the fields of scientific computing, machine learning, data mining, and visualization. Katrina is currently on the NumFOCUS Board of Directors serving as Treasurer.
