What we're about

This is a group devoted to Ruby, a great language used for things beyond rails. We talk about sinatra, deep dives into the workings of Ruby, and other things we find interesting as Rubyists.

Ruby Modules: Beyond the Basics - Hal Fulton

Capital Factory

# Talk Description If you’ve coded Ruby, you know about modules for namespacing and how to `include` a module. But do you know modules really work? Do you know about the `extend` method and the `included` and `extended` hooks? Have you ever thought of modules as a limited form of multiple inheritance? Have you considered modules as a way of managing plugin-like behavior? Let’s go a little farther down the rabbit-hole. # About the Speaker Hal Fulton is the author of The Ruby Way, now in its third edition. He is working on a book _Elixir for the Rubyist_, which should be released in 2019. He has two degrees in computer science and more than 20 years in the industry, including a few years of teaching. His short stories have been rejected by some of the finest magazines in the country. On rare occasions he plays chess and piano, both incredibly badly. He spends his spare time putting Slinkys on escalators and passing counterfeit bills to tourists. # Sponsors Capital Factory: Location Powerschool/People Admin: Food
