Vor Beginn der neuen Trump-Administration verstärkt sich aktuell – zumindest als Säbelrasseln – die Diskussion über eine restriktivere Zollpolitik. Ganz im Gegensatz dazu hob die Schweiz letztes Jahr alle Industriezölle auf.

Die Logik der Wiener Schule der Nationalökonomie vertritt eine klare Linie pro Freihandel. Warum genau?

Diesmal haben wir zwei Gästredner:
1. Martin Gundinger, Senior Fellow am Hayek Institut, wird uns eine kurze allgemeine Übersicht zum Unilateralen Freihandel geben,
2. Alexander Schmid dann über die ersten praktischen Erfahrungen aus der Schweiz berichten.

Ich freue mich auf unsere anschließende Sokratische Debatte. Sprache ist je nach Wunsch der Teilnehmer Deutsch oder Englisch.

Wir treffen uns wieder im "Hayek-Saal" am Hayek Institut in der Grünangergasse 1, Wien.

Dear "Austrians",

Free Trade

With the new Trump administration, discussions about a more restrictive tariff policy is currently intensifying—at least in terms of saber-rattling. In stark contrast, Switzerland abolished all industrial tariffs last year.

The logic of the Austrian School of Economics advocates a clear pro-free trade stance. Why exactly?

This time, we have two guest speakers:
1. Martin Gundinger, Senior Fellow at the Hayek Institute, will provide us with a brief general overview of unilateral free trade, and
2. Alexander Schmid will then report on the initial practical experiences from Switzerland.

I look forward to our subsequent Socratic debate. Language will be German or English, depending on participants' preference.

As usual, we will meet in "Hayek Hall" at Hayek Institute, Grünangergasse 1, Vienna.
