What we’re about
Join us on a journey of authentic community building through a series of experiential workshops. Co-create a community grounded in self-awareness and meaningful connections with other workshop participants, developing a deeper understanding of yourself and others in the process.
There are three workshops in a series, each building upon the other. The workshops’ activities are drawn mainly from the Authentic Relating movement, but the design of the series overall draws upon my experience with a variety of other disciplines, approaches and practices, including coaching, organisational development, and psychodynamics. The activities are fun and engaging, while still facilitating open and honest communication.
These activities, sometimes referred to as “games”, create a relaxed environment that encourages participants to be genuine in their self-expression and empathetic in their interactions with each other. The activities are primarily verbal, not physical, and involve you working with your fellow participants in different combinations during a workshop: pairs, groups of 3 or 4, and all together.
The activities of the workshop series have the thematic thread of the “Hero’s Journey” loosely connecting them together. The activities, over the course of the three, two-hour workshops, take the participants, both individually and collectively, on a journey to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and others. The first workshop in the series, “Departure”, is open to anyone, although this workshop is best suited to people who have already taken at least their first step to self-knowledge (it doesn’t matter on what path). The second workshop, “Initiation”, requires first completing “Departure”, and the final workshop in the series, “Return”, requires the completion of the previous two.
The series will run throughout the year, with the workshop "Departure" running several times a year. There will also be less structured meetups where the participants from different workshops can meet together. This is to help maintain and develop the community beyond the workshops themselves. (Since this is a new Meetup group, and we are still building membership, only one workshop or event is currently listed at a time, as the venue requires prepayment well in advance to hold a time slot).
The workshops are £6 to attend (helping cover venue hire and Meetup costs).
