Reflection — is a core relational skill that helps us feel understood, seen, and emotionally safe.

What we’ll explore:

  • What reflection actually is
  • Why being understood is a core human need (Maslow’s Belonging tier)
  • How reflection creates mutuality and reciprocity
  • How it supports limbic resonance and mutual theory of mind
  • Why many families never practiced reflection
  • How to reflect others gently and how to receive reflection yourself

Questions for reflection:
When someone reflects you accurately, what shifts inside your body?
How do you prefer to be reflected?
And how — and how well — do you reflect others?
(From last week) Which reaction felt older than the moment — a schema, not the present?
