🌱 Companionship: What is Rupture & Repair Capacity?

# Companionship: Through the Lens of the Relational Capacities
## Episode II — What Is Rupture? What Is Repair?
This meetup continues our work within the Relational Capacities Framework — the understanding that connection is built on trainable human capacities. 🧩
There are nine core relational capacities we are strengthening:
- Curiosity in Others
- Self-Awareness
- Meta-Awareness
- Meta-Cognition
- Emotional Regulation
- Affective Empathy
- Interoceptive Awareness
- Attunement
- Repair Capacity ⭐
Tonight we focus specifically on Repair Capacity — the capacity that allows relationships to recover, stabilize, and deepen after strain. 🔄
***
Companionship is not the absence of tension.
It is the ability to move through tension consciously. 🌿
All meaningful relationships experience rupture — moments of misattunement, misunderstanding, shutdown, defensiveness, or overwhelm.
Rupture is not failure.
It is nervous system information. 🧠
👉 Can we recognize rupture as it begins?
👉 Can we regulate enough to remain engaged?
👉 Can we choose repair rather than withdrawal or escalation?

## 🔎 What Is Repair Capacity?
Within this framework, Repair Capacity is the ability to:
• Notice relational strain
• Reduce certainty and defensiveness
• Name impact without accusation
• Listen without preparing a counterargument
• Restore emotional safety and mutual recognition 🤝
Repair is not about being right.
It is about restoring connection.
For many neurodivergent adults, rupture can feel amplified — due to processing differences, sensory load, literal communication, or masking fatigue.
With awareness, rupture becomes growth. 🌱✨
Companionship is built not in ease —
but in what happens after disruption.
Join us as we strengthen Repair Capacity and expand conscious companionship.
