Monthly Artificial Intelligence in Robotics Meetup - Getting Started with Robots

Details

This is a monthly meetup for people who are interested in A.I. in robotics to connect and learn from each other with the potential to discuss ongoing projects and possible collaboration opportunities.

Presented by Philip Mallon:

If you want to get started making your own robot then join the course "Getting Started with Robots". This session will take you from simple programming, mechanical construction with Lego components, and testing of various robots. The first session is about learning objectives and options you can choose but the following sessions will adopt either the Elecrfreaks NezhaInvention Kit for microbit or my own robot design based on M5Stack computers and components.
You can purchase the robot kits or components yourself and I will give guidance on where to purchase but there is no need to purchase anything until try the kits in the sessions.
I will provide four kits for you to try and evaluate and I will outline the pros and cons of each kit.
If there is sufficient interest I will continue with a second session in May and start with simple programming of a clock using either the M5Stack ATOMS3R computer or microbit computer. I will show you how to setup your development environment. Additional sessions will follow if there is enough interest.
This course could suit anyone that wants to get started in robotics and share their learning experiences with the group. You can be a senior or a younger person wanting additional electronics, programming or mechanical construction skills.
The photo shows a simple robot what will be built in the course. It uses Lego components and motors which are Lego compatible. All of the electronics and computer comes from M5Stack.
The computer shown is a M5Stack AtomS3 computer based on ESP32S3 and it is programmed in a simple block language and environment on-line called UIFlow2 which is available free on-llne.
I will also have a detailed outline on both Youtube (channel: dsrc12) and documentation in mindmaps available on dropbox.
