September 2026 Selection - To Have and Have Not by Ernest Hemingway
Amazon - GoodReads
To Have and Have Not is the dramatic story of Harry Morgan, an honest man who is forced into running contraband between Cuba and Key West as a means of keeping his crumbling family financially afloat. His adventures lead him into the world of the wealthy and dissipated yachtsmen who throng the region and involve him in a strange and unlikely love affair.
In this harshly realistic, yet oddly tender and wise novel, Hemingway perceptively delineates the personal struggles of both the "haves" and the "have nots" and creates one of the most subtle and moving portraits of a love affair in his oeuvre. By turns funny and tragic, lively and poetic, remarkable in its emotional impact, To Have and Have Not is literary high adventure at its finest.

Welcome to our monthly Book Club! We’re a small, friendly group that gets together for fun, thoughtful conversations about a different book each month.
Finished the whole book? Great. Only made it through a few chapters? Still come. Didn’t read it at all but the discussion sounds interesting? Honestly, you’re welcome too.
We meet on the first Tuesday of every month.
One of the best things about this group is that we keep it relatively small and guide the conversation, so it doesn’t turn into three people talking while everyone else quietly questions their life choices. Everyone has a chance to jump in, share their thoughts, and explore the book’s characters, themes, writing, and bigger ideas.
You definitely don’t need to be a literary expert. Whether you read constantly or you’re trying to get back into it, this is a relaxed place to discover new books, hear different perspectives, and meet some great people along the way.
