October 2026 Selection - Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead by Olga Tokarczuk
Amazon - GoodReads
In a remote Polish village, Janina devotes the dark winter days to studying astrology, translating the poetry of William Blake, and taking care of the summer homes of wealthy Warsaw residents. Her reputation as a crank and a recluse is amplified by her not-so-secret preference for the company of animals over humans. Then a neighbor, Big Foot, turns up dead. Soon other bodies are discovered, in increasingly strange circumstances. As suspicions mount, Janina inserts herself into the investigation, certain that she knows whodunit. If only anyone would pay her mind . . .
A deeply satisfying thriller cum fairy tale, Drive Your Plow over the Bones of the Dead is a provocative exploration of the murky borderland between sanity and madness, justice and tradition, autonomy and fate. Whom do we deem sane? it asks. Who is worthy of a voice?

Welcome to our monthly Book Club! We’re a small, friendly group that gets together for fun, thoughtful conversations about a different book each month.
Finished the whole book? Great. Only made it through a few chapters? Still come. Didn’t read it at all but the discussion sounds interesting? Honestly, you’re welcome too.
We meet on the first Tuesday of every month.
One of the best things about this group is that we keep it relatively small and guide the conversation, so it doesn’t turn into three people talking while everyone else quietly questions their life choices. Everyone has a chance to jump in, share their thoughts, and explore the book’s characters, themes, writing, and bigger ideas.
You definitely don’t need to be a literary expert. Whether you read constantly or you’re trying to get back into it, this is a relaxed place to discover new books, hear different perspectives, and meet some great people along the way.
