Volunteer at AVL Sounds Fest
Details
AVL Digital Nomads is supporting two venues at AVL Sounds Fest, and we need you.
AVL Sounds Fest is Asheville's citywide music festival: August 6–9, more than 240 artists across 17 stages, from The Orange Peel and The Grey Eagle to brand-new outdoor rooms like this one. It's the festival's first year back after Hurricane Helene forced the 2025 hiatus, and a portion of proceeds goes to the WNC Long Haul – Recovery and Resilience Fund.
We've claimed Asheville Yards on Friday and Hellbender on Sunday.
This event is Friday.
THE SHIFT 📅 Friday, August 7 🕐 [SHIFT WINDOW — 5 hours] 📍 Asheville Yards, 🌤 Outdoor venue
Music runs 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM that day: Erick Baker, Caitlin Krisko & The Broadcast, Grace Bowers, Toubab Krewe, Big Freedia at 8:00, and Preservation Hall Jazz Band closing it out at 9:30.
WHAT YOU GET
The festival gives volunteers who work two 5-hour shifts:
🎟 A weekend festival pass — all four days, every venue (passes retail at $161.50) 👕 An AVL Sounds Fest volunteer T-shirt 🎉 An invite to the volunteer party
Read that again: the weekend pass takes TWO shifts. One shift here on Friday plus one at Hellbender on Sunday gets you there. OR, two on Friday works too.
Sign up for both: 👉 Sunday at Hellbender: https://www.meetup.com/avl-digital-nomads/events/315867475/?slug=avl-digital-nomads&eventId=315867475
WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO
The festival assigns roles at check-in from its standard list: Wristband Checker, Ticketing, Venue Ambassador, Merch, Stage Manager, MC, Floater, and VIP. Most of our crew will land on wristbands, ticketing, and ambassador work — checking passes, keeping the entry line moving, and answering "what's playing next door?"
No experience needed. Everything gets a walkthrough on-site before doors.
WEAR AND BRING
- Closed-toe shoes. You'll be on pavement for five hours.
- A refillable water bottle. Outdoor venue, August, evening sun.
- Sunscreen and a light rain layer — afternoon thunderstorms are normal here.
- Photo ID and a charged phone.
RSVP here on Meetup. We will coordinate with AVL Sounds Fest.
