What we're about

Awakening Spirituality (AS) is an emerging community for seekers—people drawn to the spiritual quest.

Some people are drawn to spiritual practices outside of religious norms and structures. We support people who are seeking life-fulfilling experiences that differ from conventional experiences. We support seekers who want a personal relationship with the Divine.

AS is a safe space to ask questions: Who am I? Why am I here? What is my purpose? What is the true nature of God, Goddess, Creator? Do we even need these titles? How can I develop my relationship with spirit?

AS is a safe space to explore practices, ancient and modern, and to develop healthy, creative approaches to spiritual growth.

A spirit of acceptance, authenticity, inquiry, and inclusion, guides our activities. New ideas are welcome, and old ideas are viewed through a new lens.

As an open, evolving group of seekers, we also enjoy a sense of fun.

Welcome! We're excited that you've chosen to come with an open heart and mind to explore the infinite with us!

Intermediate Watercolour - Guided Art Class - Thursdays @ 1 PM ET (ON, CAN)

"When you can't go outside, go inside" and find a little distraction from the everyday with this on-line art class featuring intermediate level watercolour techniques.

Join this class of 30-50 regular students and bring your curiosity to a meaningful activity that includes a mixture of stimulation, reflection, thought provocation, peaceful calm, relaxation and mindfulness.

Your guide will be Cathy Wild, who began painting as therapy in April 2016 after her own journey of self-discovery following brain surgery.

Cathy is excited to volunteer her time in helping others paint while continuing her own recovery. May you find yourself inspired by the giftedness that emerges through your creations.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in April 2020, Cathy has taught her level 1 watercolour class to students on-line every Tuesday, a community that continues to grow.

Many folks are now ready to take their skills up a notch and this class is an opportunity to develop new skills at an intermediate level and style.

PLANT BASED NUTRITION isn’t a hard concept, but there are many concerns on a wide range of topics. Processed foods and animal-based foods may be a huge part of the Standard North American diet, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

We are able to eat a whole foods, unprocessed diet without eating animals AND get all the nutrients we need in the process. Wondering where you’ll get your protein, calcium, iron, and B vitamins? No need! You'll learn all about how to base your diet off whole foods, and how to eat a variety of vegetables, leafy greens, fruits, nuts, seeds, beans, and legumes.

Jim & Janet will share about how these foods contain a variety of nutrients, enough to sustain anyone not eating animal-based foods and how it adds more fiber, phytonutrients, and antioxidants into your diet, giving your body everything it needs.

For ongoing support and information please consider joining our Plant Based Nutrition 101 Facebook group community at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1366428630040300

"Perfect Brilliant Stillness" Book Discussion @ 3 PM EST (CAN/US)

Join an online open discussion about "Perfect Brilliant Stillness" by David Carse.

An intimate account of spontaneous spiritual enlightenment and its implications in a life lived beyond the individual self, Perfect Brilliant Stillness is a guidebook for the more advanced spiritual seeker who is ready to go beyond popular ‘new age’ ideas to explore in depth the perennial wisdom of the non-dual tradition of Eastern spirituality. Perfect Brilliant Stillness offers an invitation to finally let go of the false sense of individual self and to go, completed, beyond.

"It is challenging, triggering, gives me goosebumps, and points to Being, What Is, the Understanding and much more. You will want to say, "I don't 'understand' it at all." and "I get it!" even though there is nothing to understand and no "I" to get it. It will be an encounter of the 3rd kind, the 5th dimension, the nth dimension, the infinite, the eternal, Oneness, ...Perfect... Brilliant... Stillness...! This writing seems to go beyond the Course in Miracles in pointing closer than ever to Awakening; Understanding. " - Johan Koeslag

Read this writing completely, then start again, and listen to the audio version, once, twice. Read and listen together, make notes of your thoughts, reactions, responses, those "I don't get its", follow up on the readings and books read and quoted by the author.

Then, let's get together and share our understandings or no-understandings giving each other a different way of looking at things or thoughts that we didn't think of before.

FACILITATOR: Johan Koeslag's life has been a search for something—a meaning, a direction, a sanctuary, himself, a soul journey, peace—from the time he first questioned the status quo, through traditional church, family life, work, and now. Johan has studied and taught A Course in Miracles for years.
